Since making changes to the bottom paint last year, I have noticed that the way the side bunks were sitting in such a way that they were scratching the paint. The side bunks were sitting on the inside of the two small bilge runners. This was good in the sense that the load was going mostly to the keel or through the side bunks to the floor timbers.
But I thought there is a better way. so I have lowered the bunks and strapped them to the trailer with galvanized square U-bolts.
I am quite pleased with the new arrangement as the support through the bilge runners shares the side load better and now all the touch points between the hull and the trailer are exclusively where there is a brass rub-strip. So much less rubbing of the nice bottom paint when loading the boat and transporting it.
